About the event
For yoga teachers, trainees and dedicated practitioners. Learn to weave self-myofascial release into any yoga class, or deepen your own practice. In this 3-hour live, hands-on workshop, you'll practice simple ball, block and roller techniques, learn how they affect tissue fluid and the nervous system, and leave with ready-to-teach openers matched to common peak poses.
New to self-myofascial release? Read my guide: What Is Self-Myofascial Release?
3 Yoga Alliance Continuing Education contact hours (Techniques, Training & Practice 1.0, Teaching Methodology 1.0, Anatomy & Physiology 1.0).
What we cover
Fascia essentials for yoga teachers: what fascia is, its layers, and why slow pressure and movement help tissue glide and calm the nervous system
The technique ladder, practiced on your own mat: compression, rolling, shearing, cross-fibering, pinning, winding and scribbling, with gentle, medium and targeted options
Test, roll, retest: using yoga poses before and after release so students feel the change
Class prescriptions matched to the peak pose: forward folds, backbends, shoulders and inversions, hip openers, twists, standing balance and restorative classes
Safe group teaching: an opening check-in script, key cautions, modifications and props, and clear cueing for intensity and breath
Practice teaching in small groups, with peer feedback

Who it's for
Yoga teachers, trainees and dedicated practitioners. Everyone practices together: you'll feel the test, roll, retest change in your own body, learn the techniques and the why behind them, then see how to teach it. Teachers and trainees earn 3 CE contact hours, and dedicated students leave with a home routine. No experience with myofascial release needed.
What to bring
Your mat and a water bottle. Please bring myofascial release balls if you have them (or 2 tennis balls in a sock), a towel, 2 yoga blocks, and a foam roller if you have one. No gear? Marda brings extras to share.

Is this hands-on bodywork?
No. Everything is self-myofascial release, using your own body weight and simple tools.
