DIY Magnesium Sleep Lotion (Clean and Organic Winter Self-Care) Great Gift too.

DIY Magnesium Sleep lotion
Magnesium Sleep Butter

If you’ve ever tried making a magnesium lotion and ended up with a mixture that separated or refused to blend, you’re not alone. Traditional lotion recipes use water, and water and oil simply do not mix without a true emulsifier.

This version is completely different — a water-free Magnesium Sleep Body Butter that blends beautifully, feels luxurious, and supports deeper rest, calmer evenings, and smoother winter skin.

It is creamy, whipped, beginner-friendly, and totally stable.

This is now my recommended recipe for readers, students, and anyone wanting a simple nighttime ritual that feels amazing on the skin.

MAGNESIUM SLEEP BODY LOTION

This creamy sleep butter helps ease nighttime stress, soothe muscles, support deep rest, and nourish dry winter skin. Perfect for bedtime routines and post-yoga recovery.

Ingredients:

Ingredients for DIY Magnesium Sleep lotion
Ingredients for DIY Magnesium Sleep lotion

1/4 cup organic unrefined shea butter

1/4 cup raw organic cocoa butter

1/4 cup organic jojoba oil or sweet almond oil

1 to 2 tablespoons magnesium oil

Optional: Make Your Own Magnesium Oil

Mix 1/4 cup magnesium flakes with 1/4 cup hot distilled water. Stir to dissolve and cool completely .

10 to 15 drops lavender essential oil

5 drops vanilla essential oil or extract

Optional: 2 to 3 drops chamomile essential oil

This small amount will not cause separation because the oil ratio is much higher. Make sure to cool completely before adding to your other ingredients in the double broiler.

DIY Magnesium Sleep Lotion Instructions:

  1. Melt shea butter, cocoa butter, and jojoba or almond oil together in a double boiler.

  2. Remove from heat. Allow to cool until the mixture becomes cloudy or slightly thick.(Place in the refrigerator for 5 to 10 minutes if needed.)

  3. Add magnesium oil and essential oils.

  4. Put in the refrigerator until it is solid.

  5. Whip with a hand mixer for 2 to 4 minutes until the texture becomes light and fluffy.

Usage: Massage a small amount onto legs, shoulders, arms, or belly 20 to 30 minutes before sleep. Also, I like to use on my feet before bed and put socks on over the Mag butter. A slight warming or tingling sensation is normal with magnesium.

Batch Size: Makes two 4 oz jars or one 8 oz jar. I made this one for myself and used a 8 oz mason jar.

Gifts are great with 2 oz. jars. This recipe makes two gifts.

This water-free recipe is extremely stable, easy to make, and perfect for creating a calming nighttime ritual. It also makes a wonderful handcrafted gift for anyone who needs more relaxation during the winter season.
