I am super excited to share this self-care ritual with you. I have three boys—actually, make that four (my husband counts!)—and finding the time and space to relax and rejuvenate can be a challenge. Especially with everyone home right now. Cue the “Calgon, take me away” moment.
But here’s the thing: you deserve restorative time. And ninety minutes is all you need.
Put it on your calendar like any other appointment. If you have littles, share the time block with your partner—send it straight to their calendar if you can. This is an appointment you cannot miss.
Your 90-Minute Evening of Bliss
🧘♀️ 1. Start With 30 Minutes of Restorative Yoga
Roll out your mat near a wall and set the mood—dim the lights, light a few candles, and cue up my Spotify Yoga for Relaxation playlist. If you have essential oils, use your favorite calming blend.
Then, settle in and press play on Yoga for Relaxation. No tricky poses here—anyone can do this practice.
🛁 2. Transition to a Warm Bath
After yoga, head to the tub and start filling it with hot water. Add bath salts, bubbles, or use my Detox Bath Recipe.
Bring those yoga candles with you to transform your bathroom into your own zen oasis.
You’ll also want:
A washcloth
A hand towel
A face mask
A body scrub and/or foot scrub (optional)
Turn on your own chill playlist—or use my Spotify Bath Zen playlist.
🛀 3. Soak for At Least 30 Minutes
Settle in and fully unwind. Have a glass of ice water with lemon nearby to stay hydrated.
If you’d like, give yourself:
a gentle facial
a body scrub
a foot scrub
And make sure the whole house knows: you are not to be disturbed.
🚿 4. Quick Cool Rinse
After your bath—especially if you used my Detox Bath mix—take a quick cool shower and gently towel off.
🧴 5. Finish With a Luxurious Body Butter Massage
Once you’re fully dry, slather on your favorite body butter—or try my homemade version. This stuff is amazing. I don’t use any other lotion anymore.
I use it:
on my entire body
on my face
in my hair
and if you mix a little with sugar, it makes an incredible lip scrub
(For the original recipe inspiration, check out ouroilyhouse.com—she has fantastic non-toxic DIY products.)
Apply your lotion generously, give yourself a slow massage (your feet will thank you), and let everything soak in.
Put on a cozy terry cloth robe or wrap in a soft towel and lie down for about 15 minutes before getting into your pajamas.
Final Thoughts
I hope this self-care ritual leaves you feeling rested, nourished, and grounded. If you have your own favorite practices, I’d love to hear them—come share on my Facebook page!
Sweet dreams,
💛
